Swiss Visa Regulations
There are different regulations for EU members and non-EU members staying longer than eight days, but all of them require a visitor registration well before the actual visit. Here are the details:
Non-EU members
PSI has to apply for visa and work permit for all experimenters coming from non EU countries staying at PSI for more than 8 days.
For the visa application PSI needs the following documents:
- filled out questionnaire (also as PDF)
- copy of the passport
- a letter from your home institute stating that you are employed by your institute as ... with a salary of .... , that you will be sent to PSI from ... to ... (please add some extra days before and after, so that in case of minor changes in your schedule we don't have to start the visa application again) to carry out experiments and that your home institute will cover all expenses during your stay here.
For students PSI needs:
- filled out questionnaire
- copy of the passport
- letter from the university confirming the enrollment
- letter from the home institute/university stating that the student will be sent to PSI from .. to ... to carry out experiments and that the home institute/university will cover all expenses during their stay at PSI
The visa procedure takes about 6 weeks. So please send the necessary documents at the latest 6 weeks before your visit as PDF Files by email to: anita.vanloon@psi.ch
EU members
Experimenters from EU Countries staying longer as 8 days should be also registrated by PSI at the Migration Office. They should send a PDF File by email to anita.vanloon@psi.ch containing:
- copy of the passport
- information about exact dates of their stay
A copy of the passport has to be sent only once. The information about the exact dates of their stay should be sent at the latest 10 days before their stay at PSI.
